My Quest Experience – Quest Bar Flavors Reviewed & Ranked

It was a Saturday afternoon and I was making my regular shopping trip to the local Costco. Unbeknownst, I ended up wandering off to the vitamin and supplement section of the store. It was there I spotted a very appealing box covered in images of delicious chocolate bars. I took a closer look at the nutrition and couldn’t believe my eyes. It was loaded in protein, had surprisingly low sugar content, and were less than 200 calories. I had to try these.

I hastily made my way to the cash register, paid for my groceries, and headed for my car. Before even unpacking my cart, I excitingly started opening my box of protein bars and pulled out the most appealing flavor – chocolate peanut butter. Chocolate and peanut butter, one of the greatest combinations imaginable; the fusion that makes up my all time favorite candy. I opened the packaging and inside was a very tasty looking bar coated in a thin layer of dark chocolate. I enthusiastically took a bite.

I’m not sure how I looked at this moment, but I’m guessing if you saw the look on my face, you would have seen my disgust. I wasn’t sure what it was I had just put in my mouth, but this couldn’t have been the same chocolate covered protein bar I just opened. How could something coated in chocolate taste so awful? I felt deceived. I felt scammed. I knew there was no way this could be the only nutritional protein bar available in the market. There had to be a better alternative.

After I made my regular drive home and unpacked my car, I promptly jumped on the computer. Still feeling swindled, I began looking up what popular protein bars were on the market. There were many familiar names that popped up on my search engine; Clif, Kind, and Nature – just to name a few. I have tasted all of these bars in the past and thoroughly enjoyed them. But they either did not provide enough protein or had an awfully high sugar content. That was when I found Quest.

I have been a fan of Quest Bars for more than a year now. My introduction to Quest began with an order of the variety pack on Amazon. It came with 12 different flavors so I could have a taste of many of the flavors they had to offer. I couldn’t believe how amazing the nutrition was. The lowest calorie bar was an incredible 160, while the highest was a mere 220.

The taste of each bar was even more amazing. I tried each and every flavor over the course of two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed every one. They had me hooked. I went back on Amazon and hastily ordered new flavors to discover which I enjoyed the best.

Over a year later and I still have a Quest Bar almost daily. I have tried every flavor and definitely have my go-to favorites. Since I’m such a fan of Quest Bars, I thought it would be fun for me and entertaining for you guys to read my ranking of each flavor. I’ll try to give as much detail as to each bar’s flavor, give my input on whether or not they are better warmed, and of course provide that incredibly important nutritional content each bar provides.

1. Cookies & Cream

This treat is a cookie lover’s ultimate protein bar. The actual bar has a remarkably chewy blend, but what make these bars special are the random pieces of white chocolate and cookie wafers. Each bite is a slightly little different experience. I love getting a solid bite of a giant cookie piece or the sweetness of the white chocolate. There’s a reason this is my #1 reorder.

2. Double Chocolate Chunk

I’m a huge chocolate fanatic. But I will admit my expectations were low after first trying the Chocolate Brownie flavor. But man was I surprised! My tastebuds were screaming with joy when I bit into that first chocolate chunk. Those occasional bites of crunchy chocolate chips definitely live up to the bar’s name. It was enough to satiate my chocolate craving, all while feeding my body some pretty outstanding nutrition.

3. White Chocolate Raspberry

The name of this bar does it some justice. It’s literally sweetness overload and I love it. This flavor features a very apparent raspberry flavor with random bites of white chocolate deliciousness. It is by far the fruitiest flavor Quest has to offer. My only complaint is it doesn’t feel quite as satisfying as some of the other flavors. Of course, it could be because I am eagerly craving more!

4. Apple Pie

I absolutely adore any dessert apple flavored. Nothing beats a warm and gooey apple crisp, the perfect crunch of an apple turnover and of course a classic, the apple pie. So while I may be a bit biased, I find Quest’s Apple Pie flavor irresistible. I’ve tried it both warmed for 10 seconds in the microwave and room temperature and am equally impressed with both. It tastes just like a chewy version of an apple pie; featuring that perfect hint of cinnamon that you’d expect to find in an apple pie. Additionally, the bar has big chunks of fruit and an irresistible aroma.

5. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

I vividly remember being pleasantly surprised as I unwrapped my first chocolate chip cookie dough bar. The bar was bursting with these enormous chocolate chunks that were screaming my name to be devoured. The actual bar highlighted a very satisfying softer and less chewy texture that perfectly resembled the actual grain of cookie dough. That unique texture with the bite of the chocolate chips really won me over with this flavor. When warmed for 10-15 seconds, this flavor offered a completely new experience. Instead of crunchy chocolate lumps, each bite tasted just like a gooey chocolate chip dessert. To this day I cannot decide which way I prefer eating this flavor, so I happily mix it up.

6. S’mores

There has been a huge sensation around S’more flavored snacks lately. While nothing beats that actual fire roasted S’mores creation, most of these imitation flavors are pretty darn delicious. That holds true for Quest’s S’more bars as well. The first thing I noticed was the texture of these bars is a little unusual at room temperature. It has this weird, crumbly-like consistency that just was not very enjoyable. However, it did deliver in the flavor department. I experienced a taste of gooey marshmallow, rich chocolate chips, and flavorful graham cracker cookie with each bite. So I tried heating this bar. That completely removed that peculiar crumbly texture, while enhancing all the beloved S’mores flavors.

7. PB&J

It took me a while to find the jelly flavor in this bar. Immediately, there is this overwhelming flavor of peanut butter that touches my palate. However, when I continued to chew, the strawberry jelly flavor slowly built up. With just a hint of jelly flavor, this bar is definitely more PB than it is jelly. But I still dig this recreation of America’s staple sandwich.

8. Banana Nut Muffin

This bar tastes just like a delicious slice of banana bread. It has this distinctive grainy texture with a mixture of walnuts that really matches that banana nut muffin feel. Microwaving this bar for 10 seconds made this flavor feel like an indulgent dessert. While not quite as satisfying as some of the other flavors, it is still a tasty treat!

9. Cinnamon Roll

Hand me a slightly warmed, oversized cinnamon roll from Cinnabon and you will win me over forever (or at least for the day). This flavor was my first introduction to Quest and while I was not completely sold, I still enjoyed this flavor. I undeniably detected the sweetness of cinnamon. And while a little too chewy for a cinnamon roll, it actually did taste almost identical to one; however, I was hoping for some type of cream cheese aftertaste to really take it to the next level. While not my favorite flavor, I greatly enjoy eating one every now and then.

10. Lemon Cream Pie

This summery flavor tasted just like a chewy lemon dessert. While the flavor of sweet lemon was definitely there, it left a little to be desired texture-wise for what you would expect of a “cream pie” flavor. The texture was the same as Quest’s cinnamon roll, strawberry cheesecake, and many others. I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much when heated up.

11. Peanut Butter Supreme

Think PBJ flavor without the hint of jelly. This flavor has an overwhelming flavor of PB which really fits the “Supreme” label. Mixed through the bar, there are giant chunks of peanuts giving some bites a fun crunch. If you are a peanut butter fanatic, this is the bar for you. If you’re like me and prefer a variety of flavors, you’d prefer PB&J over this PB bar.

12. Mint Chocolate Chunk

This is one of Quest’s newest flavors and left me wishing for more. I ordered these with the expectations that it would taste at least somewhat similar to Girl Scout’s Thin Mint cookies. But what I was left with was a bar that was lackluster in the flavor department. It has this great chewy texture with chocolate chunks throughout, but I feel like they robbed me of the mint. While I was able to taste it, it was more like a mint aftertaste than a feature mint flavor. If you’re going to call it Mint Chocolate Chunk, then don’t skimp me on the mint!

13. Chocolate Peanut Butter

I had a difficult time discerning the chocolate flavor from the peanut butter flavor. Quite honestly, all of Quest’s PB flavors taste vastly similar with just minor differences. For some reason I just didn’t feel the satisfaction with this peanut butter flavor than the other two.

14. Strawberry Cheesecake

Like many other “cheesecake” labeled flavors, I could not find the cheesecake. It tasted like a vanilla strawberry bar. I’m not sure what it is about that cheesecake flavor that’s so hard for companies to imitate, but I am always left asking for more. The bar tasted good and had a chewy consistency; just don’t expect to get your cheesecake fix with this flavor.

15. Vanilla Almond Crunch

The strongly believe the title of this flavor should be renamed to Vanilla Almond Chew. This bar was definitely chewy with very few bites of crunch. The flavor was a little too mild for me and kept me screaming for something more. It had a very subtle vanilla flavoring which some of you will surely enjoy, but as a sweet fanatic, I wanted more.

16. Chocolate Brownie

I had a hard time finishing the first bite. The flavor was borderline disgusting and tasted nothing like any chocolate brownie I’ve ever eaten. It was also incredibly chewy. From my experience, a good brownie is always moist and gooey. So naturally, the bar went straight into the microwave for 10 seconds. This made a vast difference. While definitely not my favorite, the bar now had a gooey consistency that made it somewhat enjoyable. I wouldn’t recommend this over the other chocolate flavors Quest offers.

17. Toasted Coconut Cashew

I worship coconut. That distinctive flavor that makes everything taste so much better. To this day I desire anything coconut flavored over any other treat out there. So when I eagerly took my first bite, my heart and expectations shattered. The flavor was nowhere to be found. It tasted like… nothing. The best way I can describe this flavor is an even more tasteless version of Quest’s Vanilla Almond Crunch. Never again.

18. Mixed Berry Bliss

I had a hard time finding the “bliss” in this bar. I really wanted to enjoy it more, being as I’m a huge fan of anything berry flavored. But it simply lacked in the flavor department. It was missing that distinct sweetness that Quest’s other fruity bars offered, dropping it to the end of my list.
