Combat Crunch Protein Bars Reviewed & Ranked

It is no secret to anyone that everyone’s favorite protein bar, Quest, had a rough patch early 2016 when they realized their new recipe with corn soluble fiber. The protein bars were tasting ‘meh’ at best, and like many others I needed an alternative. During my hunt I’ve tried a variety of other protein bars from B-Up to OhYeah! And while these bars were great, they didn’t quite stack up to Quest. That’s when I found Combat Crunch.

Combat Crunch Protein bars feature a crunchy, coated exterior with a soft very ‘Quest-like’ interior. They are a little bit more of that candy bar representation a lot of people are looking for. The best part? The nutrition of one of these are spot on. Each flavor bar is consistently 210 calories, around 20g of Protein, low sugar and high fiber. So with a price tag of $2.00 – $3.00 per bar, I’m glad to report that the ingredients and taste match the price.

So now the question everyone has been waiting for… how do I rank these delicious protein bars? With a total of seven different flavors, there is enough of a variety to meet everyone’s taste. But as a total chocolate addict, below is how I rank these not-so-guilty treats.

1. Combat Crunch Chocolate Cake

Easily ranking my number one favorite bar by miles, this delicious bar is truly a perfectly decadent treat for the chocoholics out there. I’ll admit, I was just a tad bit skeptical trying a ‘chocolate cake’ flavor. Considering I absolutely adore a giant slice of chocolate cake. But let me tell you, the texture captivated in this small protein bar definitely respresents that cakey texture and the flavor… all I can say is WOW!! I could eat one of these daily and die a very happy man.

Verdict: 10/10

2. Combat Crunch Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

While chocolate cake easily overthrows this flavor, this chocolate chip cookie dough representation should not be taken for granted. Honestly, it does not taste like cookie dough to me, but it’s still delicious and one of my favorites. The crunchy coating paired with the soft interior adds a nice touch, making you feel completely satisfied after devouring this bar. The only problem is they taste so darn good that you want to eat another, and another… and another.

Verdict: 9/10

3. Combat Crunch Peanut Butter Cup

The peanut buttery flavor is definitely highlighted in this delicious snack. If that chocolate and peanut butter pairing has always been your thing, then this will probably be your go to bar. I don’t really have anything negative to say about this bar, it’s super yummy. The only thing I would have liked to have experienced is a slightly creamier texture than the other flavors. And that’s me being super nit-picky.

Verdict: 8.5/10

4. Combat Crunch Cookies and Cream

This treat is a cookie lover’s ultimate protein bar. The actual bar looks remarkable, featuring that dark chocolate coating and a white chocolate drizzle. The interior of the bar has the random pieces of cookie wafers. Oddly enough that, each bite has a very consistent texture. I’d love if they made the cookie pieces a little bit crunchier to add a different of texture with every bite.

Verdict: 8/10

5. Combat Crunch White Chocolate Raspberry

I was actually surprised with how much I enjoyed this flavor. Normally fruity flavored bars, desserts, and drinks are my least favorite. But this bar has a very pleasant raspberry taste which is seamlessly paired with that decadently sweet white chocolate coating. I choose this flavor over all the others when I’m looking for a slightly less rich flavor to pair with a nice ice cold glass of iced tea.

Verdict: 7/10

6. Combat Crunch Birthday Cake

My friends will tell you when it comes to overly sweet, I’m your go to guy. I adore adore adore super sweet desserts, making birthday cake flavored desserts an obvious selection when I indulge on ice cream, candy or cake. So when I saw Combat Crunch had my favorite flavor dessert captured in one of their bars, I had to try it. Honestly I was a little disappointed. But keep in mind my standards were higher than with any of the other flavors. It tasted great, but it did not feature that overly sweet birthday cake flavor I love. I do thoroughly enjoy the multi-colored candy coated pieces topping the bar, and I definitely love that smooth texture. I just wish it was about 3 or 4 times sweeter.

7. Combat Crunch Cinnamon Twist

To be brutally honest, I haven’t experienced a cinnamon flavored protein bar that I love. And Combat Crunch is no different. While I do thoroughly enjoy the cinnamon flavored coating, the interior of the bar just doesn’t compare. It’s a nice flavor when you are in the mood for something a little different, but I left feeling less satisfied than with all of the other flavors.
